Welcome to The ACP Advocate,

SGR repeal IS reality…you don’t need to pinch yourself about that. However, you will want to be sure to note that ACP’s advocacy plate remains full and that we already know some of what to expect post-SGR.

Our first article this week is all about how ACP will continue to press for action on legislative and regulatory issues affecting internists and their patients

Our second article examines what to expect in the post-SGR era. A merger of the Medicare bonus programs is among the anticipated improvements with the new physician payment system. Even now, we can point to numerous other legislative and regulatory initiatives to come.

Today's third article considers how ACP is urging more regulation and oversight of e-cigarettes in a new position paper published in Annals of Internal Medicine.

I was pleased to see so many of you at ACP’s 2015 Internal Medicine Meeting in Boston last week. Not only was it a wonderful, multifaceted celebration of ACP's 100 years, but it was our highest attended meeting on record.

Until our next issue – which will look at another forthcoming ACP paper –
and for more coverage of what's happening in Washington take a look at my award-winning blog, The ACP Advocate Blog by Bob Doherty. You can also follow me on Twitter @BobDohertyACP.

As always, please send your feedback and suggestions on this newsletter to: TheACPAdvocate@acponline.org.
