Welcome to The ACP Advocate,
We kick off this issue with an article letting you know about a new report that ACP's Performance Measurement Committee wrote, looking at the measures being used as part of Medicare's MIPS program. The report found major problems with the measures and we'll be using their findings to push CMS to improve the program.
Our second article today looks at some of the ways that CMS is trying to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens faced by physicians. This includes improvements to some of the electronic health records systems. Take a look at the article for more details.
Finally, we have an update for you about what is happening in Congress regarding legislation to combat the opioid epidemic. Both the House and the Senate have different bills they are considering; we'll continue to advocate on the issue. The topic will be one of the priority issue areas at ACP's upcoming Leadership Day event at the end of the month.
