Welcome to The ACP Advocate,
It was great to see so many of you at ACP's annual Leadership Day event on Capitol Hill this week. We'll have detailed coverage in the next issue about the event and what ACP members discussed with their legislators.
We start today by letting you know about a meeting that ACP recently had with the new director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. We had a great discussion with Adam Boehler; we told him about the College's priorities as CMS tests new payment models and look forward to continuing to work with him.
Our second article this issue details the cuts to health care programs that were included in the package of rescission cuts to the federal budget that President Trump sent to Congress. The legislation to put those cuts into effect is waiting to come up for a vote. We will keep you updated on the status of the bill, in the meantime take a look at the article for information about the specific programs that could be subject to cuts.
Lastly, we let you know about a new study looking at the high cost of health care in the U.S. The report shows that the U.S. pays about twice as much for health care as other countries. Check out the article for more details about how we stack up.
