Welcome to The ACP Advocate,
We start today issue by letting you know about a recent advocacy campaign where ACP brought together other medical organizations to advocate for fixing an issue with visa applications for non-U.S., international medical graduates who are starting their residencies in July. I'm happy to report that the campaign was successful in quickly getting the administration to acknowledge the problem and the need for a fix. Take a look at the article for more details about what happened and what ACP did to bring about the solution.
In our second article, we let you know about the 2018 winner of ACP's Richard Neubauer Advocate for Internal Medicine Award. Dr. Jason Goldman of Florida has been a strong advocate for internists for years, but last year his advocacy in Washington, DC and at the state level in Tallahassee was exceptional. I encourage you to read the article for more about what Jason accomplished and for his take on why all doctors should be involved in advocacy.
